After a chance encounter led Peter Andre to meet our chairman Ru MacDonagh, he has become a keen supporter of our work. Peter and Ru are to visit Zanzibar together during the first week of February so that Peter can see the project for himself...

The Makunduchi Project is expanding! We will soon be taking on a second hospital in Zanzibar called Kivunge. As a result we are changing our name to HIPZ - Health Improvement Project Zanzibar.

We are currently designing and building a new web site to reflect this change...

I’m the new HIPZ doctor working in Makunduchi and have been suitably impressed with the hospital during my first two weeks.

This year promises to be an important year for HIPZ and a time to keep pushing forwards with the significant advances our humble hospital has seen over the past few years, and take on the challenge of Kivunge in the North.

Surgery is happening on a two weekly basis, and Dr Mohammed, General Surgeon from Mnazi Mmoja declared he looks forward to his days working in the calm of the Makunduchi theatre...

HIPZ was nominated as one of the charities to meet Prince Charles during his recent visit to the island on Tuesday 8th November.

One of our doctors, Nick Campain, spoke to the Prince about our project and attended the Gala Dinner in the evening.
