Our mission
  • To develop a model of high quality healthcare based on a public / private partnership. This model will incorporate not only high standards of clinical care but also the development of sustainable healthcare, management and financial systems.
  • To apply the same model used in Makunduchi Hospital to other cottage hospitals in Zanzibar.
  • To develop a ‘blueprint’ of cottage hospital development that can be used by others in the field of healthcare development.

Our 4 P’s

At the outset of The Makunduchi Project we decided on four founding principles that we would apply across the project. These are:

  1. Patient first
  2. Positive
  3. Professional
  4. Passionate

This ethos is to permeate from the founders all the way through to hospital staff.
